"Nothing Compares 2 U" est un morceau écrit en 1984 par Prince pour l'un de ses projets parallèles, le groupe The Family. Le morceau a été édité en 1985 sur l'album homonyme de ce groupe, mais il est passé à l'époque complètement inaperçu pour le grand public. Cinq ans plus tard SINEAD O'CONNOR réenregistra cette chanson et l'inclut sur son second album "I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got", apportant ainsi à ce morceau un succès mondial.
